The Intermountain Chapter of the NRHS headquartered in Denver ran fantrips from Denver to Laramie every October for a few years in the '80s. I went in 1984 and '85. As the pictures show, on Saturday, October 20, 1984 there was unseasonal heavy snowfall in the region. I almost didn't make the flight from SLC to Denver because the snow hit SLC first. It made for some incredible photo-ops going over Sherman Hill. If I recall correctly, The train still made its eight scheduled photo runbys, even in the heavy snow. From Denver to Speer, the train was pulled by DDA40X #6922. #3985 was put on at Speer. The following year the weather was unseasonably warm and sunny- #6936 pulled the train partway on that trip. I think the fare for those two years was $75, including a box lunch."
