Southern Pacific Steam - A Life Chasing Trains

SP steam was in its final days pulling a few fan trips when I began taking train pictures.  These are among my oldest pictures.  The first four wee taken on a New Years 1958 Central Coast Railway Club trip with the 2475 from San Jose to Tracy and return over Altamont Pass, the last run of the 2475.  The next seven images are from my very first roles of Kodachrome, taken on May 4, 1958 with a borrowed Argus C3 camera, of a fan trip with the 4460 and 1744 from Oakland to the end of the Knights Landing branch via Sacramento.    My newer images of preserved SP steam, such as the 4449 and the 2472, can be found in the Preserved Mainline Steam gallery HERE.
