As a kid in California interested in trains, I only got to see pictures of GG-1's, but their style fascinated me. So when I first visited Philadelphia in 1962, it was really neat seeing the real thing. I remember taking a train from Philadelphia to Lancaster and while waiting on the platform for a return passenger train, a GG-1 on a freight stopped right in front of me. The crew was friendly and when I mentioned I was in engine service on the SP I was quickly offered a cab ride to Camden, which I eagerly accepted. Four years later I was back in Philadelphia to go to school, and the GG-1's were still busy. I'm glad I was able to get my pictures while they were still in the classic PRR livery.
