This gallery contains scans of the ICC Examiner's report and recommendation concerning the DRGW's application for the abandonment of the ng. between Alamosa, Durango and Farmington.  The DRGW had excluded the Silverton Branch from the application, after previously filling for abandonment of just the branch and the ICC denying the application because of the growth in tourist business.  The last two pages are  the ICC order granting the application for abandonment.  Subsequently the Antonito to Chama portion of the line was sold to the states of Colorado and New Mexico for the creation of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, and the track from Chama to Durango and Farmington removed.  The Rio Grande continued to operate the then isolated Silverton branch for several years before selling it to the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.  The C&TS and D&SNGRR continue to operate as tourist lines.
