The Hotel Ferrocarril at Zacapa. This was part of the station complex , and provided both a lunch room for through Puerto Barrios-Guatemala City passengers as well as a hotel for passengers waiting for the overnight connection to the train to San Salvador. Staying at the hotel was described by one wag as "like spending the night in a yard office" since the upstairs veranda overlooked the yard. The hotel obviously had not been painted in years but was clean and had a decent dining room and bar.
