May 12, 2019. I have a love hate relationship with this image. This was between Mountain Green and Peterson east of Ogden and Weber Canyon. It is such a beautiful scene, but the freeway and all the parked cars certainly change the ambience! Freeway traffic following the trains was unlike anything I had seen. If you look closely you will see a Utah Highway Patrol car leading the pack, preventing anyone from passing, so traffic backed up for miles. In talking to a Morgan County Deputy who was patrolling the road where I was parked, law enforcement was primarily concerned with safety (speed) and was going to let folks park pretty much anywhere, so long as it was off the pavement. The electronic info signs along the freeway warned of "event traffic", That was something of an understatement. It was quite a zoo, but for the most part folks were well behaved. And it was also nice to see families bringing their kids out to see the train.
