The Sumpter Valley ran their annual fall color photo specials on October 13-14. The volunteers put in some long hours, trains performed magnificently, and Mother Nature provided a colorful background.
October 13, 2018. Lots going on at McEwen as the first rays of sun light up the station and two engines. The early morning fall temps are close to freezing. Lots of interesting details here.

By the river. I think this is a new photo location that Pete selected. It was a difficult shot with little room for the photogs (except for the few who chose to wade across the river) and the engine had to pose rather than actually runby. But it makes a nice scene.
Sunday morning October 14 the engines were facing west, providing different photo ops. Here No. 19 gets ready at McEven with the sun behind it.

October 14, 2018. The combination of a horned homely heisler, a swayback coach , and a classic red caboose make for about as "cute" a train as one could hope for. Reminds me of some of the scenes in Beebe and Clegg's Mixed Train Daily.
