On February 15-18 the Durango and Silverton held their annual winter photographers weekend.  This year's event featured visiting oil burner SP 18, Goose 5, and a D&S mixed train.  The Durango area already had a fair amount of snow, and Friday morning the D&S ran a flanger train to clear the line ahead of the photo specials.  However a slide north of Tall Timber blocked access to the turning loop at Cascade, so some runs had to turn at Rockwood, backing to or from the canyon. The weekend started with a picture perfect mix of sun and snow showers. However the weather slowly deteriorated to near blizzard and white out conditions.  So Monday morning the railroad ran another flanger train (pictured here) The railroad's MOW folks made an extraordinary effort to keep the line open for the benefit of the visiting photographers, and the winter photo ops were great.  All in all a fun weekend.
